Fezzano harbour

Log book

We are still in the Gulf of La Spezia and we are sailing towards Fezzano harbour. So we are heading for the west side of the Gulf, towards this very pretty and very sheltered village. To enter, our companion Maurizio has contacted channel 9.

Ugo Vanelo, the managing director of the Valdettaro yard, which Marina del Fezzano is part of, briefly tells us the history of this harbour, which was a shipyard in the past where ferries were dismantled and was then turned then into one of the first floating wharfs on the Italian coasts.

Today it is a harbour equipped for welcoming yachters and it also attracts many French customers, famous for being very demanding sailors.

What services are provided for sailors? We discover that in addition to support on the wharf, which means assistance to sailors with all their innumerable demands, there are equipped areas on land to make the stay more pleasant, for instance a mini club for the children of boat owners.

What about respect for greenery? At Fezzano they also seem to be attentive to ecology. For instance they deal with bilge collection, though for now the new boats can only unload it.

The Fezzano Marina is in the province of La Spezia, a few kilometres from the chief town. Tel. 0187 790 103, email info@marinadelfezzano.it
