Log book
Mattia, the skipper of Adriatica, accompanies the casual yachters towards the mouth of Lavagna harbour. The mooring men have been warned on channel 9 and the staff will indicate where to moor. The entry looks southeast, and there is a fine protected outer harbour.
Lavagna harbour is well equipped. There is everything: a travel lift up to 150 tons, covered garaging, crane, cylinder loading, boat repairs in fibre glass, sailing school, wooden hull repairs, moorings for boats up to 50 metres, yard for fibre glass and wood, divers ... It is a true city for boats!
Together with Claudio Arvigo, the assistant manager of the harbour, Patrizio goes to discover the biggest harbour in the Mediterranean. Andrea Fusieto, responsible for the management of moorings and transit in Lavagna harbour, explains that a wide range of services is provided for the over 1600 boat places available.
Lavagna is not only a transit harbour. About 1400 moorings are always full, while the remaining ones are used for boats passing along the Riviera. The curiosities of a yachter, however, go beyond the services provided. For example, which winds give most problems for entering the harbour? Without doubt the sirocco and for this reason it is necessary to get downwind, assisted by the harbour dinghies.
What about the prices? Patrizio asks how much it costs to transit with a boat about 14 metres long for one day. During the summer period 77 Euros including VAT, water and electricity.
