Together with Mattia we have entered the Assonautica harbour, near the San Giorgio hill, right at the end of the Gulf of La Spezia.

Entering the harbour we notice there are a lot of lit-up green and red buoys: they serve for signalling the navigation and access channel above all for merchant ships. The radio channel to contact Assonautica is 71.

This is the harbour of the people of La Spezia and you guess it both from the number of boats – there are about 600 places – and the accessibility, thanks to the presence of a berth for disabled people and of all essential services: water, services, showers, electric energy, refuse collection. The prices too are accessible to everybody!

During our visit, the people responsible for Assonautica speak to us of the initiative called "Sea-country: the new frontier of tourism", created to allow yachters to know the typical products or to give them the opportunity to go along the High Road of the Ligurian Mountains, a full 440 km long!

The harbour is equipped to receive boats up to 15-16 metres long and there are no problems about draught. Actually Adriatica is rather longer than the boats that Assonautica usually receives, but the people responsible are kind and made an exception: they also let in Adriatica with a length of 22 metres and we found it very good there!
